Sumo. Can. Walk.
He's 9 months old. Let that sink in for a minute.
He never crawled, and yet now as long as somebody holds his hands and walks behind him, he's on the move. He never crawled! And yet he walks. He just started standing while holding onto furniture a few days ago! And yet he walks. HE WALKS!!!! Didn't he skip some steps?!
I am so screwed.

In other news, my eye is still twitching. Yes, I have a big ole tranny head with a twitchy eye. I have a feeling once Sumo walks, my eye will twitch more. Maybe both eyes will twitch and then my head will rotate around 360 degrees.
On Friday, I had one of the most infuriating experiences of my law school career. I won't say "the most," because hell, it ain't over yet, people. But get this. I had this paper due for this class I took. I was supposed to incorporate information that I gathered from an organization in downtown Metropolis where I live, but there was no way I was going down there until after exam period was over. In other words, in order to get the crap I needed for the paper, I would have to take the train into downtown and sit in an office for a few hours going over some papers. This wasn't going to happen until after exam period was over. So I went to talk to the professor about it. I figured he'd just say, "Well, turn it in after exam period - the information you want to incorporate is important."
What did he say? He said that I should turn in the paper NOW! Without it! He also said that "after exams" I could re-write the paper and turn it in again! Bloody hell. I'm not doing that. We don't have "rolling due dates" in law school. Once I turned the bloody paper in, that was IT. No more work on it. And how was I supposed to turn it in anyway without the information?
Anyway, Friday was supposed to be "study for Corporations" day, but it turned into "try to pull some pages out of my ass since I can't go down and get the information I need for the paper" day. But hey, I turned it in. And no, there will NOT be "rolling due date" for the paper. I sent in the paper by email with a "thanks for a fun semester!" message so as to imply that there would be no subsequent work on the paper to follow. Two down, three to go! *twitch twitch*

And this is precisely why I chose to simply be a mom and not a working mom. Because catching puke is surely better than juggling work schedules.
haaaaaa Adam walked at nine months- yes, you're screwed! ;)
Go, Sumo! My condolences to Mama.
A professor like that needs to be smacked.
It could be worse--Dino did not walk until 24 MONTHS--that's two years....ugh!
Yeah you are soooo screwed. That kid will head straight to the kitchen. Run Sumo Run!!!!
The good news is that Sumo will probably at some point get distracted by figuring out crawling, so he'll pause for a bit on the walking thing. OK, that's not really good news. No matter what, mobility sucks.
Um, my oldest walked at 10 months and my middle son walked at 9 months. You will most certainly have double twitching eyes by the end of the week, guaranteed!!
That professor sucks. dumba$$
I am so glad Bear is just now really starting to walk at 9 months although he has been crawling for ages. At least you have one paper down. That is a good start.
Drink lots of water for that eye twitch! And congrats to Sumo!!! He is awesome!!!
Maybe your eye twitching was a sign of Sumo walking. It could be a sign of all the crap you're going to have to deal with running after him lol.
You are sooooooo screwed, get your running shoes on because that is next. Also I would invest in some cheap wine because I think you will be drinking a lot of it! LOL
Yech! Professors suck.
Go Sumo GO!!! Get ready Mama. Now you get to keep up with him:)
Blake walked independently at 9 months. Now that was fun! He will get the whole walking thing soon... just watch
Congrats to Sumo. And yep, you are screwed.
I get eye twitches, too. Does that make me a tranny head?
Sorry about your sucky law professor.
Uh oh, poor you! So if you want you can package him up and send him here for a few days, I'll put his little legs to work, guaranteeing that he won't want to walk for at least another few months.
From a mother whose child also walked early ... it actually is better. Soon he'll be doing stairs and throwing himself around at the playground. And it's awesome, trust me.
Gavin walked with hands from 7 months old (he pulled himself up earlier than that). He didn't crawl until about 11 months old (prior to that he rolled around the floor like a log). He finally let go of hands and furniture at 13-1/2 months. Cooper only started walking with hands about a month ago, but he started crawling on Friday...man does that stink! Had to pull out all the baby gates again!
Okay, so the therapist in me wants you to know to encourage Sumo baby to crawl as much as possible. Give him tunnels to crawl through, tables to crawl under, etc. It is really good for coordination, arm muscles, and (later) writing skills. It's fine that he is walking now (although not so much for you!) but don't let him totally ignore this important developmental stage as well.
My ADHD Nephew walked at 8 months. I'm just sayin' YOU ARE SCREWED. Kids who are really motivated to MOVE walk that early. One thing that worked in my house: put those big 'ole clunky tennis shoes they sell for baby boys on him... they'll be too heavy for him to get anywhere and he'll decide that crawling is easier.
OR go with it and soon he'll be able to fetch things for you. Like that bottle of wine you're gonna need.
Yesterday Mack mastered how to climb the ladder to our slide. I'm screwed, because at the bottom of the ladder is a huge wood beam, surrounded by concrete, just waiting for a tiny little body to fall off the ladder and come crashing down. There went my last ounce of sanity.
Screwed? Yes. But not necessarily yet. He is still dependent on you for leading him around. It is coming. IT IS COMING.
Oh does he pull himself up to a standing position yet? Ooooh yes, it is coming..tee hee hee.
My mom said that I started doing the walking with support thing at 9 months, but didn't walk unsupported for 12, so sometimes babies can take a looooong time to progress from one to the next. I'm hoping this is the case with Landon - I can't have him mobile until after we move, our apartment is too small to move all our stuff out of his reach!
Wow, walking that's fantastic. My girl didn't walk until after her first birthday. Sure, she gets into trouble sometimes, steals brownies off the table but on the other hand some things are SO much easier. Some days I just let her run and run and run and then she collapses into a two hour nap. I can get lots of work done in that amount of time. I usually don't, but I could.
I always get an eye twitch when I'm stressed out! good luck!
You are screwed, PB was an early walker too, it is amazing how fast they will start to move.
Too bad about the paper, but hey, its done.
I think law school is causing that eye twitch of yours . . . just a guess :)
WALKING. WHAT? J is only a few days away from the big day.
He has no desire to crawl. He wants UP. He climbs all over everything and is constantly pulling himself up to a standing position. I was joking that he may never crawl . . . Oh. No.
I don't want to be screwed!!!!
Sumo is already walking?? That's nuts!! And so is the paper thing.
Uh, oh...Sumo baby is on the move! Everyone watch out!!
That's crazy considering his size! Pumpkinhead was a huge baby and didn't start walking until after he turned one. Same with my brother. You're in for it now, Mama!
I would have hurt that Prof. Grrr.
YAY for Sumo Baby! Way to go.
Holy crap my right eye keeps twitching periodically. It just started and is the weirdest thing ever! Drives me nuts.
Walking! At nine months!
As far as I'm concerned, life is much easier once they can walk. You can take them places and actually put them down instead of carrying them everywhere.
